Define a simple, multi-vendor, multi-device (e.g. inverter, module, string combiner, etc.) communication interoperability specification to support NEC 2014 and NEC 2017 and UL 1741 module-level rapid shutdown requirements.
May 20, 2019. The Communication Signal for Rapid Shutdown sub-workgroup met on May 15 to review a proposal to modify the approved specification to accommodate receivers that are not embedded in the PV modules. The proposed change to the SunSpec Communication Signal for Rapid Shutdown Specification was approved by the sub-workgroup with a request to incorporate it into a new draft and forward it to the larger working group for ratification. This new draft is under construction and will be posted on this page when it is ready for review. Please stay tuned for details.
May 7, 2019. The SunSpec Communication Signal for Rapid Shutdown workgroup has been re-opened to consider a proposal to amend the specification. The date and time of next meeting is to be announced.
