Orange Button Data Exchange Standard: Implications on Solar Soft Cost Reductions

9:45 – 10:00 am
Wednesday, September 25
Location 253A

The Orange Button data exchange standard is designed to reduce solar soft costs associated with finance, system design, and operational setup. Enabling the smooth flow of information between project developers, contractors, vendors, financiers, and other stakeholders, Orange Button includes a data taxonomy, information models, APIs, a compliance test suite, and reference software.

Since the release of Orange Button v1.0 in April 2018, development efforts have focused on building open-source software to facility use of the extensive taxonomy and APIs as well as establishing an Orange Button developer community.

Join Tom Tansy, Chairman of the SunSpec Alliance and Cliff Hansen, Technical Lead at Sandia National Laboratories as they present their findings after a year of use from early adopters and the implications leading to solar soft cost reductions, including a potential finance savings of $0.10 to $0.15 per watt.
