Orange Button – August, 2019 Update

The Orange Button workgroup has released a new version of the Solar Taxonomy, version 2019-07-31.

This new release is available here, on GitHub: https://github.com/SunSpecOrangeButton/solar-taxonomy

Full release notes are available under the ‘releases’ section.

In this new version we updated the way we maintain version information. Following the XBRL format, new versions of the Solar Taxonomy are labeled with the date of the release in the YYYY-MM-DD format.

Additional updates include: duplicates were removed, and names were updated for consistency.

We have a major update planned for the Solar Taxonomy at the end of August. This major update will include: element names will be updated with abbreviations in order to shorten element name lengths; and the taxonomy will be extended to include elements related to determining the health or condition of an asset.

The next major update we have planned is our Autumn release. This update will include: name enhancements to the elements in the Data – System Entry point; and extension of the taxonomy to include data elements related to system commissioning and testing, and calibration of monitoring equipment.
