The SunSpec Marketing Work Group will develop and produce:

  • Marketing materials and media artifacts that can be used by manufacturers to highlight
    the benefits of SunSpec Certified products
  • Procurement materials that can be used by potential buyers of Distributed Energy Resource products and services to help ensure all component choices are standards-compliant, of high quality, and fully interoperable with each other.
  • “Explainer” and “How To” guides that instruct potential customers ask the hard
    questions and be better consumers of DER products and services
  • The very first effort of this work group is to develop a Request For Proposal document for purchasers of IEEE 2030.5 DER network solutions.

In 2021, for the first time ever, Distributed Energy Resource systems will be required by state and federal regulations to respond to data communication signals from grid operators. Many of these systems will be monitored and controlled using data communication networks based on SunSpec Modbus and IEEE 2030.5. The primary goal of this group is to educate market stakeholders that SunSpec Certified communication products deliver lower integration and operating costs, unrivaled interoperability, and a better overall customer experience.
