Thomas Tansy, Chairman of the SunSpec Alliance will participate as a panelist for the Going Beyond Batteries to Provide Grid Flexibility panel at the 5th Annual Electric Program Investment Charge (EPIC) Symposium, Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the Sacramento Convention Center.

This panel will discuss how “smart” inverters and demand response are stepping up on the distribution side to meet grid needs while lowering electricity customers’ utility bills. It will be held at 3:45 – 5:00 p.m. in room 309-310.

This year’s event will highlight resilient and equitable communities; transportation electrification; municipal leadership in clean energy; storage solutions beyond batteries; and wildfire prevention strategies. This year’s program will also highlight how research and local action can help achieve the state’s energy goals while providing energy equity to diverse communities. Participants will share insights on technology solutions and scientific practices that are being developed and piloted through the EPIC research program to decarbonize the electricity sector in a safe, affordable, and equitable manner.

This symposium is a free, one-day event that highlights research projects using innovative energy technologies. It also offers informative poster sessions and networking opportunities with high-powered speakers, industry leaders, and researchers.

Last year’s symposium attracted over 600 in-person attendees. Participants spanned a diverse set of California organizations that included universities, businesses, local and state agencies, environmental and social equity advocates, and the news media. Many of these representatives are among the world’s foremost exports in the transition to a low-carbon future.
