The SunSpec/Sandia Cybersecurity Workgroup, now 350 people strong, has been meeting once or twice per month now for the past two years. During this time, we’ve been executing to a roadmap that addresses several key themes:
- DER Device and Servers
- Secure Network Architecture
- Data-In-Flight Requirements
- Access Controls
- Patching Requirements
- Utility/Aggregator Auditing Procedures
To expand industry knowledge, invited experts have presented on dozens of topics including:
- Protocol-independent cybersecurity
- IEEE 1815 (DNP3) system architecture
- IEEE 2030.5 system architecture
- IEC 61850 security considerations
- A comparison of encryption standards for various Distributed Energy Resouce (DER) standards
- Establishing Public Key Infrastructure for regional or national DER ecosystems
- Supply chain considerations
- And many other topics
