Overview

The SunSpec Alliance hosted a webinar to mark the relaunch of the SunSpec Modbus Work Group, outlining new priorities for advancing secure and interoperable communication in distributed energy systems. The session covered updates to Modbus TCP security, efforts to improve client testing procedures, and plans to finalize the test results reporting specification. Additional focus areas include developing implementation guides for international standards and evaluating new models for grid-forming inverters and modular energy storage systems.

SunSpec Alliance members are eligible to participate in all SunSpec Work Groups, including the newly relaunched SunSpec Modbus Work Group. If you’re not yet a member, you’re welcome to attend the first meeting on June 18 to get a firsthand look at how the group operates and the value it provides.
