Distributed energy is a major component of our energy future, giving us cleaner and more diverse energy sources and a more resilient grid. However, some of the characteristics of distributed energy that make it so attractive–an order of magnitude more vendors and generation sites and fewer centralized control points–also expand the attack surface, thus increasing cybersecurity complexity. At the same time, adversaries are becoming more aggressive with sophisticated supply chain attacks, often enabled by a shadow industry of advanced malware tools.

The current environment necessitates a new form of cybersecurity certification program, supported by a fault tolerant infrastructure, to accomplish our cybersecurity goals. SunSpec Alliance, supported by technology partner Lumian Foundation, is building such a program. This webinar will describe Phase 1 of the SunSpec cybersecurity certification program and how it contributes to achieving our cybersecurity vision for the industry.
