SunSpec Announces New Webinar Series
JUNE 12, 2014 — On Tuesday, June 24th at 10:00am PST, the SunSpec Alliance, a trade group of distributed energy industry participants, is going to host the first webinar in a planned series of supplements designed to educate solar integrators on how to profit from the growing market for distributed (solar) power. Click here to register.
Co-sponsored by Moxa (www.moxa.com), this first webinar of the “Opportunities in Distributed Energy for Solar Integrators” series will address issues and opportunities associated with integrating smart inverters into the smart grid. Among the topics explored include:
- Typical deployment topologies of solar plants that incorporate smart inverters;
- Definition of communication protocols and computing elements used in smart inverter applications;
- Opportunities for solar integrators to add value in this environment.
The webinar will be presented by Thomas Tansy, Chairman of the SunSpec Alliance. Tansy will lead additional webinars in the series, as yet unscheduled. They will center on integrating smart inverters into the smart grid; securitizing solar assets and the associated need for computing support; and working with solar integrators and component manufacturers.
According to industry figures, the U.S. solar market burst out of the gate in 2014 by recording the second-largest quarter in history. This growth was led by the strong performance of the utility segment, both in the PV and CSP markets. The U.S. installed 1,330 MW of solar photovoltaics (PV) in the first quarter of 2014 to total 14.8 GW installed capacity, enough to power 3 million homes. In another significant development, Q1 2014 was the largest quarter ever for concentrating solar power.
The event’s co-sponsor Moxa is a leading manufacturer of industrial networking, computing, and automation solutions. It joined SunSpec as a sponsor member in 2010.
