SUNSPEC MODBUS & IEEE 1547 WORKSHOP
On April 25, 2024, the SunSpec Alliance, in partnership with DER Security Corp, will be holding a half-day, online workshop for software engineers who are developing IEEE 1547-compliant inverters and EV charging stations that utilize the SunSpec Modbus for IEEE 1547 communication interface. This workshop will be co-hosted by Kudrat Kaur, Software Engineer of the SunSpec Alliance and Jay Johnson, CTO of DER Security Corp. Previously with Sandia National Laboratories, Jay is a renowned expert in DER power engineering and cybersecurity for both the DER and electric vehicle industries.
Topics covered in this four-hour session include:
- A review of the IEEE 1547-2018 electrical functions
- A review of the SunSpec Modbus for IEEE 1547 standard and 700 series information models
- SunSpec Modbus general theory of operation
- How to link the SunSpec Modbus for IEEE 1547 interface to IEEE 1547 electrical functions
- How to build a Protocol Information Conformance Statement (PICS) using SunSpec Dashboard
- Hands-on testing and debugging of a SunSpec Modbus for IEEE 1547 interface using DERSec LabTest Plus
- Hands-on testing and debugging of an IEEE 1547-compliant inverter using DERSec LabTest Pro, an IEEE 1547-compliant DER software simulator, and IEEE 1547.1 clause 5 & 6 automated tests
- How to generate SunSpec Modbus for IEEE 1547 test results for SunSpec Certification
- How to achieve SunSpec Modbus for IEEE 1547 certification
