The Foundation of EV Charging Infrastructure

View Recap

Abstract

Overview: Billions of dollars will be invested into one of the fastest growing applications of IEEE 1547-compliant DER technology in the next six years: EV charging infrastructure, Vehicle-to-Grid, and Vehicle-to-Home solutions. Like fixed solar- and energy-storage based DERs, EV charging incorporates computing and IP-based data communication as a core element of the operating platform. But what about cybersecurity?

During this webinar, we will make the case that companies that operate EV charging solutions, can only serve customers and maintain profitability by incorporating cybersecurity as a core element of their platforms. In this session, you will learn about:

  • Unique properties of this type of DER that make cybersecurity indispensable
  • The priority that adversaries have placed on compromising EV infrastructure and the financial success they have had exploiting related industry sectors
  • Popular exploits that adversaries have leveraged to take advantage of EV charging weaknesses
  • SunSpec’s cybersecurity program for DER implementers of all types to incorporate fundamental cyber technologies and best practices into their products
Tom Tansy, CEO of DER Security, and Alfred Tom, President of Lumian Foundation will be co-presenters.
