Webinar Recap: Unlocking Grid Capacity with Kalkitech
July 13, 2026
Overview
The SunSpec Alliance, Kalkitech, and White Pine Renewables recently brought together industry experts for a practical look at how open standards are enabling secure, scalable integration of distributed energy resources. Drawing on more than five years of experience supporting California utility programs, the webinar explored how IEEE 2030.5 and SunSpec standards are being applied across Rule 21 telemetry, flexible interconnection, battery storage, and Distribution Investment Deferral Framework (DIDF) projects.
The session also examined White Pine Renewables’ Lake View and Blackwell’s Corner projects with PG&E, where front-of-meter battery systems are being used to address grid constraints while participating in CAISO markets. Speakers shared lessons learned from deployment, including the importance of reusable standards-based architectures, cybersecurity, coordinated commissioning, and lifecycle support as utilities prepare to integrate growing numbers of DER systems.
