This 90-minute webinar will explore how utilities and technology providers are using Flexible Service Connections, powered by IEEE 2030.5, to dramatically speed up the integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) at scale. Featuring perspectives from the U.S. and Australia, this session will dive into the technical, regulatory, and market drivers behind a new class of interconnection architecture that enables dynamic, flexible import and export limits across C&I microgrids, EV charging depots, and residential aggregations.
Attendees will learn how Dynamic Operating Envelopes (DOEs) can be leveraged to allow flexible DER participation without compromising grid stability, and how IEEE 2030.5 is being used as a unifying standard for communication between utility DERMS platforms, edge DERMS systems, and customer-side equipment. Topics will include the evolution of FlexConnect, enabling technologies, cybersecurity requirements, and a preview of the forthcoming CSIP 2025 testing procedures led by SunSpec Alliance.
