U.S. Federal and State-Level Guidelines for DER Cybersecurity Published – SunSpec Alliance

February 28, 2024

On February 22. 2024, the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) published its Cybersecurity Baselines For Electric Distribution Systems And DER. This important document is intended for state Public Utility Commissions, electric distribution utilities, DER operators and aggregators to encourage alignment across states to mitigate cybersecurity risk and enhance grid security. Developed by NARUC, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and a group of regulatory, cyber, and industry experts that includes a representative of the SunSpec Alliance, these baselines build on the National Cybersecurity Strategy, issued by the Whitehouse in March 2023.

The SunSpec Alliance is proud to contribute to this important effort. We are also happy to announce that the SunSpec Cybersecurity Certification program for DER Devices incorporates and supports the guidance these baselines provide.
